EIQA is dedicated to delivering the highest standards of Quality and Excellence to every consumer in the marketplace, through independent audit and assessment.

The Q Mark programs offer industry standard frame works for companies to improve organisational performance. They are designed to deliver the highest standards of Quality & Excellence. The annual Q Mark certification audit and assessment gives confidence to clients and customers that your organisation can consistently deliver what they need.

History of the Q Mark

EIQA has been the Irish National Quality Association since 1969 and currently assesses thousands of organisations on an annual basis, both nationwide and internationally. 

The Hygiene Mark was first launched in 1978, followed by the Q Mark for Quality Management Systems in 1982. All the Q Mark standards are regularly updated to include the most recent developments and best practice.

In 2009 The Q Mark suite of programmes was re-branded with the beautiful gold Q Mark logo that is today recognised by 87% of Irish consumers, seen above on the right.

THE EIQA TEAM

EIQA Assessors and Auditors

EIQA maintains a national panel of auditors, assessors and trainers who are expert in specific industries or sectors and have a deep understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices. All are educated to at least primary degree level in their chosen field, and are registered Lead Auditors.

They are vital in maintaining the integrity and credibility of the Q Mark certification process. They work closely with businesses to assess their compliance with the relevant quality standards, identify areas for improvement, and provide guidance on implementing effective management systems.

EIQA Support Team

The Operations Team are responsible for Certification, QA , Customer Service, registration requirements, and Technical checks. The Training Team, keep busy with Training, the Accounts Team look after the numbers, the Marketing and IT Team looks after the website, socials and communications and the Management Team look after everything else! We all get involved in global research, environmental commitments, legislation updates, innovation and internal audits.

Marie Doyle-Henry – Director

Marie Doyle-Henry B.Sc. (Hons), Dip. Quality & Statistics TCD

Marie took EIQA and Q Mark business brands in 2023, having worked with EIQA in various roles since 1996. As Managing director of EIQA, she leads an experienced team which provides certification, support services and training for all Q Mark programmes and standards.
Marie has significant experience in national standards and certification across various sectors, having worked with Failte Ireland, ComReg, Ireland Active and EIQA as a board member and consultant expert. Marie’s focus in EIQA will be on sustainability and innovation in the current programmes, and ensuring transparent and independent governance across the certification process. Her vision is to grow and promote the Q Mark as the most recognised and trusted national brand of Quality and Excellence. She aims to help client companies achieve their ambitions while at the same time recognising the commercial opportunities for them in embarking on the Q Mark journey.
An honours graduate of Environmental Science and Technology, Marie also holds a post graduate diploma in Quality and Statistics (TCD), Finance and Accounting, with numerous certifications in auditing, certification, assessment, risk and governance and project management.

Dr. Hubert Henry, Director.

Hugh is a recognised expert in sustainability strategy development and environmental control issues. As an invaluable part of our EIQA team, he will lead the team developing sustainability standards for business/commerce in Ireland. He will also assist our member companies/organisations to develop and pursue a formalised and commercially led sustainability strategy agenda often involving, energy conservation, sustainability opportunities in business, ESG reporting, carbon footprint calculation and policy statement development plus promotion. Where possible his preference is to integrate sustainability issues into an organisations existing management systems.

Before joining EIQA, Dr Henry director of Innovation & R&D Bord Na Mona PLC and before that a senior environmental and planning consultant also at Bord Na Mona PLC. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Science and Technology, a Ph.D. and a Graduate Diploma in Business Finance. He is a chartered Environmental Scientist and member of many professional scientific bodies.
